The Power of Prayer

Person praying while walking in nature, demonstrating prayer anywhere

Welcome friends to the Wonderful World of Wellness! Today’s topic is for my fellow believers. If you’ve been struggling in your Christian faith I have a few tips for you.

Pray Anytime, Anywhere

Prayer is a vital tool for spiritual growth! To build faith, it’s beneficial to practice praying anywhere. You don’t need to be in a church or kneeling down in order to pray; you can pray right where you are, in any location that feels comfortable to you!

Wherever you find yourself, God promises to hear all of our sincere prayers! This flexibility allows you to engage with God in a variety of settings… you can pray while taking a peaceful walk, in the shower during your morning routine, while lying in bed at night, or even during a drive in the car.

Talk to Jesus as a Friend

Talking to Jesus can take many forms, from structured prayers to spontaneous conversations throughout your day. God does not require you to say fancy prayers full of flowery language. What truly matters is that you share your thoughts and feelings honestly and openly. Speak sincerely from your heart, just as you would with a dear friend.

Your Guide to Reading the Bible

To truly hear from Jesus, it is essential to be reading your Bible regularly. It’s considered the best way to get to know Him on a much more intimate level! If you find yourself unsure about where to begin, don’t hesitate to ask a friend for assistance! For those who are new to this journey, a Bible study for beginners can be a helpful resource. I personally enjoy the Quest Study Bible, which is perfect for beginners! Keep in mind that some translations, such as the KJV, can be more challenging to understand because they use older forms of English that are nearly impossible to understand.

I would suggest starting off by reading the Gospels of Matthew and John. These books are wonderful for becoming acquainted with Jesus' teachings as well as His life, death, and resurrection. Alongside this, I also recommend reading a chapter each day from the books of Proverbs and Psalms. The book of Proverbs offers us godly wisdom and guidance, while the book of Psalms models for us deeply sincere prayer.

Next you might decide to delve into the Genesis creation story, which serves as a powerful reminder of the relationship between God and humanity, or you may continue reading the New Testament to learn more about how early Christians overcame challenges. Either way, you cannot go wrong!

Love you all! Keep going strong! God is with you!
